Course Name: Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Response on Mass Transit and Passenger Rail Systems
This 3 day course offered by JITEC and WVU will provide students with the knowledge required to operate in a scenario-driven exercise under realistic incident conditions involving a post-blast IED incident on a mass transit or passenger rail system. On successful completion of the course the individual can receive a certificate of completion and 2.8 Continuing Education Units.
Students will have an introduction to dangerous area markings, detectors, and locator equipment. Search tools, procedures, clearance techniques will be included in this training.
Class Start Time: Begins 8:00am on Tuesdays and is concluded at 5:00pm on Thursdays. Students need to report on Monday before 4:00pm for in-processing.
If the minimum number of students required to conduct the class have not registered 14 calendar days prior to class start date the class will be canceled. Therefore, it is imperative agencies or individuals wishing to enroll make arrangements to register and make payment prior to this deadline. Lodging at the Center for National Response Tunnel site is included in the course fee. The site offers a billeting area available for participants that train at the CNR. There are 4 modular housing units with 14 beds each. There is also a conference unit that is available for night time use for briefings or other classroom training. There is also have a bivouac area and a separate bathroom/shower facility for those who desire that type of accommodation.
Each billeting unit has its own kitchen, washer, dryer, TV, VCR and outdoor grill. Participants are supplied towels, wash cloths, kitchen utensils, dishes, and silverware. Participants must bring their own bath articles, such as soap and shampoo.
The Training Support Facility is located right beside I-77/64 with easy access to Charleston or Beckley, WV.
